The last session emphasized the three ideas above. It was a first, tentative step into the world of array function macros and macros that deal with Excel objects. Those topics are truly expansive, and we’ve only touched the surface.
Almost anything you do with ranges or with elements of the Excel user interface will involve array function macros or objects. The richness and variety of these structures is truly astounding and once you find your way around, you’ll be able to do amazing things.
The key to learning how to write programs that manipulate the Excel user interface is the macro recorder. Use it to learn which properties and methods to use — not to write your code.

The value of a function macro increases with frequency of use, the complexity of the calculation it performs, and the area of the result it returns. As you examine the computations you perform routinely in your work, make note of those computations that meet these criteria. Before committing yourself to writing a macro to carry out one those computations, try various methods for implementing it using standard built-in worksheet functions. That effort might clarify for you the kernel of the computation that benefits most from a macro-based approach.
